Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 14, 2026
Nomio ("Nomio", "we", "us") operates the Nomio mobile app and website (the "Service"), an anonymous social network for questions, voice messages, and chats. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, username, display name, and optional bio and avatar. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier and (where you permit) your email.
- Content you receive and send. Anonymous questions, text messages, and voice recordings sent to or by you, plus chat messages. Voice recordings are stored to enable playback.
- Anonymous sender data. People can send you messages without an account. We do not collect their name; we assign a random, rotating identifier so a sender can read replies, and we never reveal a sender's identity to the recipient.
- Device & usage data. Push notification tokens, app version, device type, and basic in-app events (e.g. app opened, link shared) used to operate and improve the Service.
- Waitlist. If you join our waitlist we store the email address you provide.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service: deliver messages, host voice recordings, run anonymous chats, and send notifications.
- To keep the community safe: all text and transcribed voice content is screened by automated moderation before delivery. Harassment, threats, hate, and sexual content may be blocked.
- To prevent abuse: rate limiting, spam detection, and enforcing blocks and reports.
- To improve the Service through aggregate analytics.
3. How sharing & anonymity work
Recipients never see who sent an anonymous question, voice message, or chat — both sides of a chat appear as random aliases such as "Anonymous #4832". We may retain sender metadata internally for safety and abuse prevention, but it is not shown to other users.
4. Service providers
We share limited data with vendors who process it on our behalf:
- Cloud hosting & database — to run the Service and store your data.
- Amazon Web Services (S3) — to store voice recordings.
- OpenAI — to transcribe voice messages and moderate content.
- Expo / Apple Push / Google Firebase — to deliver push notifications.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Data retention
We keep your account and content while your account is active. You can delete individual messages in the app. To delete your account and associated data, contact us at support@nomio.chat. We may retain limited records where required for legal, safety, or fraud-prevention purposes.
6. Your choices & rights
- Control who can reach you with the privacy toggles in Settings (questions, voice messages, chats).
- Block or report any sender. Manage notification permissions on your device.
- Request access to or deletion of your data by emailing support@nomio.chat.
7. Children
Nomio is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use it. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted transport. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
